Ingersoll-Rand / IR University web development
Challenge:
Ingersoll-Rand needed a website to introduce IR University, its management training program, to more than 18,000 employees worldwide. IR University needed to establish its own unique identity while providing an overview of the university's mission and courseware, to provide compelling, ongoing content updates, while directing employees quickly and efficiently to the appropriate training for their individual needs. The new site needed to be developed using Ingersoll-Rand content management software and integrate seamlessly with My IR, Ingersoll-Rand's extranet. In addition, the site needed to be built and launched on a tight deadline to coincide with the launch of IR University's new orientation courseware.
Solution: Working closely with a team of IR University stakeholders, IR University’s brand identity was extended with the design of the website and a new tone and manner were developed for the copy for IR University's on and offline communications. The site was developed as a knowledge resource for management while providing an overview to IR University’s mission and courseware, and facilitating access to Ingersoll-Rand's learning system. In addition to other dynamic features, including a dynamic News ticker were developed to liven up the site's home page. Developed using Ingersoll-Rand's content management system the site launched on schedule, and is currently serving as a portal for Ingersoll-Rand's corporate training initiatives worldwide. A Flash animation was created to support the launch, delivered both as a viral e-mail marketing piece, and on a kiosk at the launch event.
